‘Kukedai’ as a sewing tool for blind-stitching when tailoring kimono, composed of wooden board and prop with a pincushion made of human hairs coated in textile.
Very simple construction with sharp lines in calmness, but also very strong and powerful presence with such a threadbare pincushion like a head or an icon of “something”.
Meiji-Taisho period, early 20th century. approx. L 52.5cm (20.66in), H 34cm (13.38in). W 6cm (2.36in)
