‘Teppatsu’ is the black iron bowl used for ‘Takuhatsu’ (‘Pindapata’, Buddhist mendicancy) by monk. Basically made of iron, but not necessary to be iron for use as its definition.
This is a curious anonymous black pottery bowl in the form and the style of teppatsu, either made for actual use of takuhatsu as a Buddhist tool or made with the inspiration from teppatsu as an art work. Handbuilt with no potter’s wheel. Massive and thin make with oval mouth. A chip and a crack, but unfatal damage for use and scenery.

approx. D 17.7-14.8cm (6.96-5.82in), H 10.2cm (4.01in)
