Oval bentwood container (‘mage-wappa’) of Japanese folk art craft, coated with such an abstraction (a picture) of the mixture of polishing powder (‘tonoko’), white pigment (‘gofun’), and glue (‘nikawa’) as the undercoat of lacquering, which remained at closed lacquerer’s studio as a forgotten unfinished product.
