HYAKUNIN ISSHU – Japanese calligraphy poems on wooden tags

Skillful and aesthetic calligraphy poems handwritten on wooden tags as handmade ‘Hyakunin Isshu’ (Traditional Japanese card game of the one hundred famous poems by the one hundred poets). Taisho-Showa period in early 20th century. As another highlight, interestingly found ‘Koji Kimishima’ (as Japanese male name) and ‘Tomiko Kimishima’ (as Japanese female name) of handwriting in English cursive style at the backside of only two of those 65 tags, which stirs imagination as a story.

approx. 6.6 x 4.4 x 0.5cm (2.59 x 1.73 x 0.19in) each
