Handmade wooden reversible ‘hagoita’ (battledore) of hand painting in early Showa period of prewar time, 1930s, as a hidden “wabi” old Japanese folk toy existing today. One side for Betty Boop’s face and other side for skillful ‘Junichi Nakahara’ (1913-1983) – like westernized manga girl, as the both for the fashionable and open-minded icons for the Japanese children of those days.
